Château de Berne achète le Château les Launes

Provence : Château des Launes joins Château’s Berne and Ségur

Château de Berne, whose headquarters and wine-tourism centre are based at Lorgues-Flayosc (Var), continues to expand in the Côtes de Provence. Château Ségur, which is owned by the same entity as Château de Berne, has recently completed the purchase of Château des Launes at Lagarde-Freinet in the Var.

Château des Launes boasts a good location close to the Saint Tropez golf course. It comprises farm buildings, housing and a riding centre that have benefitted from significant investment by the previous Dutch owners. The property covers 45 ha, 22 ha of which is vineyard, and to this a further 27 ha, 20 ha of which in vines (AOP Côtes de Provence) belonging to Château Réquier has been added. Taking into consideration the area of land planted in vines, the “expanded” version of des Launes permits a potential production of 2 000hl, which is to be marketed by the subsidiary sales company “Berne Selection”. At the end of last year’s campaign, the sales structure had sold over 1 million bottles with excellent profit margins, 20% through export. Previous to this acquisition, the “Berne Galaxy” had already acquired Château Bertrands (90 ha) and Ludovic de Beauséjour (20 ha) to complete the eponymous domain (118 ha).
